Zitlit – Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Zitlit. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Zitlit website, tools, and services (“the Platform”). By using Zitlit, you agree to comply with these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

1. Who we are

Zitlit is a platform where authors can showcase books, blurbs, author profiles, and purchase links.

2. Using the Platform

You agree that you will not misuse Zitlit or use it for any activity that:

  • breaks any applicable law or regulation;
  • harms, harasses, or abuses others;
  • abuses, exploits, or endangers minors;
  • spreads hate, discrimination, or violent content;
  • promotes illegal activity or extremist ideologies;
  • infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights;
  • includes defamation, doxxing, or personal attacks;
  • attempts to interfere with or damage the Platform or its infrastructure.

Zitlit reserves the right to remove any content that violates these rules or is harmful to the Platform or its users.

3. Accounts

When you create an account on Zitlit, you agree that:

  • You will provide accurate, up-to-date information.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
  • You will not use another person’s account without their permission.
  • You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.

Zitlit may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Content Guidelines.

4. Author content (books, covers, blurbs, links, profiles)

By uploading or providing any content to Zitlit (including book details, blurbs, cover images, author photos, links, and profile text), you confirm that:

  • You own the rights to the work, or you are authorised to promote it.
  • Your content does not infringe the rights of any third party.
  • Your content is lawful in the UK and in your own jurisdiction.
  • Your content complies with our Content Guidelines.

You retain full copyright and ownership of your work.

By using the Platform, you grant Zitlit a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, revocable licence to display your book information and author profile on the Platform and in related previews (for example, in lists, search results, or “featured” blocks).

You can remove your content from Zitlit at any time. Once removed, it will no longer be publicly displayed, although cached copies or backups may persist for a limited period.

5. Reader and visitor behaviour

If you browse Zitlit as a reader or visitor, you agree not to:

  • scrape, harvest, or copy large amounts of data from the Platform;
  • attempt to bypass any security or access controls;
  • use automated tools to overload or disrupt the website;
  • misuse reporting tools or contact forms.

Normal linking to books or author pages, and sharing them on social media or in newsletters, is allowed and encouraged.

6. Purchase links and external sites

Zitlit displays purchase links that are provided by authors (for example, Amazon, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play, or direct sales pages).

Zitlit is not responsible for:

  • stock levels, pricing, or availability on external sites;
  • order fulfilment, delivery, or customer service provided by third-party retailers;
  • any content, policies, or data practices on external websites.

Any purchase made via an external link is strictly between you and the retailer.

7. AI-generated suggestions

Zitlit may include optional AI tools (for example, to help with blurb rewriting or translation). By using these features, you understand and agree that:

  • AI outputs are suggestions only, and may contain errors or omissions;
  • you are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before using it;
  • Zitlit does not guarantee the accuracy, legality, or suitability of AI-generated text.

You remain fully responsible for the final content you publish or share.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

You can request access to, or deletion of, your personal data by emailing: hello@zitlit.com.

9. Platform availability

We aim to keep Zitlit available and running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee that the Platform will be:

  • available at all times;
  • free from errors, interruptions, or delays;
  • free from security vulnerabilities.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Platform at any time (for example, for maintenance, improvements, or security reasons).

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zitlit and its operators are not liable for:

  • any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages;
  • loss of profits, revenue, business, or data;
  • any decision you make based on content or AI suggestions from the Platform;
  • any damages arising from the use of third-party links, services, or retailers;
  • any user-uploaded content (including covers, blurbs, profiles, or comments).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Platform or to specific accounts if:

  • these Terms are repeatedly or seriously violated;
  • harmful, illegal, or abusive content is uploaded;
  • there are attempts to compromise the security or integrity of the Platform;
  • there is misuse of platform features, including harassment or abuse.

You may delete your account or request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@zitlit.com.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

If you continue to use the Platform after changes are published, you will be deemed to have accepted the updated Terms.
